GCSE AGRICULTURE AND LAND USE 


Northern Ireland is dependent upon agriculture and food production. We will always need food and drink. Agriculture contributes around £5 billion to the Northern Ireland economy each year. There will always be employment in the food sector of the economy. 


The course is split into three units: 


Unit 1: Soil, Crops & Habitats:

  • Renewable energy

  • Careers 


Unit 2:  Animals on the land: 

  • Livestock farming 

  • Breeding 

  • Welfare 

  • Nutrition 

  • Food processing 

  • Pollution 

  • Economics 

  • Health & Safety


Unit 3: Contemporary issues in agriculture  

Controlled Assessment: 

  • 1 practical activity
